Dr. Maryam Hosseini
General Practitioner, Cosmetic Doctor
FRACGP, MD
Through all the years of medical school, I had a clear vision of myself in a white coat, helping people. When my husband, Masoud, and I moved to Australia in 2011, I quickly discovered that doctors don’t wear white coats here. It was a small adjustment, though, because it didn’t take long for us to fall in love with this beautiful country and the welcoming community we now proudly call home.
Medicine has always been about people for me. While I began my career in emergency medicine, I found myself drawn to general practice because it allowed me to build meaningful, long-term relationships with patients and their families. I value being there through life’s important moments, helping people navigate challenges, celebrate milestones, and achieve their best health at every stage of life.
One of my greatest passions is caring for women throughout their lives. From supporting teenagers and young women as they navigate their early health concerns, to caring for women through pregnancy, motherhood, perimenopause, menopause and beyond, I understand that every stage brings its own unique challenges and opportunities. I enjoy building lasting relationships with my patients and providing personalised care that evolves alongside their changing needs.
I have a special interest in women’s health, antenatal care, paediatrics, mental health and preventive medicine. I am passionate about helping my patients make informed decisions about their health and believe that good medical care comes from listening carefully, understanding individual circumstances and working together to find the best path forward.
I also provide point-of-care ultrasound for early pregnancy assessments within the practice, allowing many women to access timely reassurance and care in a familiar environment.
Outside of work, life is wonderfully busy with my husband and our two energetic boys. When I’m not at the practice, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, exploring the local community, or enjoying everything that makes Williamstown such a special place to live and work.
