Dr. Maryam Hosseini

Through all the years of schooling, I had this vision of me in my white coat, helping people. Moving to Australia in 2011 with my husband Masoud, meant that I had to lose the white coat, as no doctor wears them here, but it was a small price to pay because it took us no time at all to fall in love with this beautiful country and its beautiful people.

I started my medical journey in Australia at Frankston Hospital, as a medical officer. I was soon offered a training position to become an emergency physician, but I was not satisfied that I would look after my patients only for a short period while they were admitted to emergency department. I wanted to do more, to really get to know them, their families, and be a part of their life. That's why I became a GP.

I am passionate about all aspects of general practice, but in particular women’s health and paediatrics. I especially enjoy antenatal visits, as we get to celebrate a happy addition to the family, rather than battling with an illness.

I also decided to do further training to become a registered Focused Psychological Strategies Provider. We all have challenges in our lives, and I’m ready to hear about all your challenges and work with you to find the right strategies to overcome them.

On my days off, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Masoud, our two beautiful boys and our gorgeous puppy, Paris. I also enjoy playing tennis and little arts and crafts projects.
